When I Look Into Your Eyes
(This song was written on the birth of my first child, Caitlin, on July 20, 1985)
Will there ever again be a moment
That will half compare with this?
The first time I ever laid eyes on you;
The first time we ever kissed?
And I felt something like an artist
Who's created a lifelong dream,
And every time I look back on it
That's the way it'll always seem.
And I've waited a long long time for this moment to arrive,
Waited a long long time for you to come into my life.
And the waiting took forever,
But the sun's begun to shine,
And I know it was worth it when I look into your eyes.
Don't know how to describe what I'm feeling;
It's something I've never felt before.
And I don't want ever to get over it;
Just want to feel it more and more.
And I wonder what you might be thinking.
Could you have this feeling too?
Do the dreams your mind is making
Bring the magic home to you?
And I've waited a long long time for this moment to arrive,
Waited a long long time for you to come into my life.
And the waiting took forever,
But the sun's begun to shine,
And I know it was worth it when I look into your eyes.
Will I always feel this magic?
Or will the moment start to fade?
Will there come a time when I can look at you
Without feeling this way?
For the lifetime we'll be sharing
Keep this moment burning strong
And the flame will light the darkness,
And we'll know we both belong.
And I've waited a long long time for this moment to arrive,
Waited a long long time for you to come into my life.
And the waiting took forever,
But the sun's begun to shine,
And I know it was worth it when I look into your eyes.
