At some point in time, I will probably construct a set of pages about some of my favorite theatrical experiences. Right now, however, I am a bit tired after building the rest of this site.

I am extremely proud of all that the students and parents of Lake Forest High School, working with me and the other directors, have created in this theatre program over the years. I believe in the abilities of the actors and techies to produce plays of a caliber far exceeding what audiences expect from high school theatre. And the fact that we have done all of this without much of a curricular program--only the drama course, which I have fought for repeatedly over the last decade--is amazing. Other schools whose programs are of comparable quality have extensive curricular drama departments. Years ago I was told by the principal that, as enrollment increased, we'd address this issue. Obviously, we have not ever done so for a variety of legitimate reasons, yet our productions are still as good as I've seen anywhere else.

I want to say this to all who ever were a part of what we have created:

Thank you. Thank you for making my years as LFHS theatre director the most wonderful I could have imagined. Thank you for coming through repeatedly in set designs and construction, lighting, sounds, costuming, acting, production, and all other elements of play production. Thank you for giving 100% all the time, even when the situation was difficult. I love this program and would do anything for it. I have lived and breathed it for thirteen years. I have spent so much time in the theatre that I have seriously considered putting a futon in my classroom and sleeping at school. And although there are some decisions about some plays which I wish I could take back, for the most part I believe the productions have justified that dedication. Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for everything.

Good luck with this year's productions, and I'll see you in Forensics.

Thank you all.

Love,

K
