Basic Duties of Officers:
Officers of the Forensics team are members of a Cabinet, and will meet as such
at least once monthly during the season to discuss the needs of the team and determine
ways to improve deficiencies or maintain excellence.
Captains run meetings, help the coaches to oversee and organize the team as a whole, work
with team members and each other on event prep, and are responsible for publicizing
the team events. Captains also are responsible to call and run Cabinet meetings, keep track
of what members and Officers are doing, and communicate frequently with the coaches
to discuss concerns and needs.
Secretaries' specific duties are to keep track of team and individual results from tournaments, file critique sheets
for later use, keep the Room 55 theatre bookcase organized, and assist the captains
with publicity. In their capactity as Team Officers and members of the Cabinet,
they act as vice-Captains in planning team activities and discussing team needs.
Novice Coordinators are directly responsible for recruitment and training of novoice team members,
making them feel welcome, supporting them in seeking events and guiding them to
varisty members, officers, and coaches who can help them. Like Secretaries, in
their capactity as Team Officers and members of the Cabinet, they act as vice-Captains
in planning team activities and discussing team needs.
All officers are the most visible elements of the team and ought to be present
as often as possible at meetings and practices. They should be the first ones to be prepared and ready for tournaments and set
examples for the rest of the team. Like all varsity members, they need to be ready to work with novice, other members,
and each other to provide feedback on work in progress.
Officers should have a basic familiarity with all events in order to field questions and assist novices.
